MEET HAROLD VINCENT

DELIVERING RESULTS FOR THE CITIZENS OF HOWARD COUNTY, INDIANA

Hello, my name is Harold Vincent and I’m running for Howard County Sheriff. I was born and raised in Howard County and will probably die here. I feel like I know just about everyone in this community.  I know many of your parents, grandparents, and even some of your great grandparents. You may ask, so what difference does that make? Well, when you’re born here, raised here, go to church here, and have worked here your whole life, you get to know many of the local family’s lineage. It makes being Sheriff that much more special and important.

My education began with Kindergarten College that was located on S. Main Street in Kokomo.  From there, I went to Palmer Elementary School.  During my middle school days, I went to Sycamore Middle School and then to Kokomo High School downtown campus where I graduated in 1979. When I was 16, My father passed away and I operated his wrecker service and garage.

In 1985, I attended and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.  During my career, I have had thousands of hours of law enforcement training including training with the Indiana SWAT Association, National Institute of Corrections, Bureau of Justice Administration, Indiana Sheriffs Association, plus numerous law enforcement accredited training.

My law enforcement career began in February 1980.  I became a communication officer with the Kokomo Police and Fire Departments.  In August 1984, I became a Deputy Marshal for the Greentown Police Department. I was the first Howard County Deputy hired under Sheriff J.D. Beatty’s administration in January 1987. I became a SWAT Team member, rising up to a SWAT leader and SWAT commander.

I was promoted to Corporal as an assistance shift supervisor at the Sheriff’s Department and promoted to training Sergeant. In 1994 I was promoted to the rank of Captain.  I maintained the rank of Captain until my retirement in 2015. When you're in Law Enforcement as long as I was, you develop street smarts and end up with a PhD in the school of hard knocks. I believe my experience with all these positions made me a better supervisor, a better leader, and a better administrator.

I am presently the Operations Director for Green Acres. For those of you that have visited there, know what we have accomplished. It’s safe to assume that many of my Democrat friends will jump over to the Republican side this election. Many of my independent friends will most likely lean to the Republican side as well. Due to there being no Democratic candidate for Sheriff, the Sheriff of Howard County will be chosen on May 3rd.

I believe my life experiences over the years will make me a better Sheriff than most of those who have gone before me.  I will be more Approachable, in Touch, and Listening than any other.  I’m asking for your support on May 3rd for the Republican nomination for the Sheriff of Howard County.”
